Shake off your post -Valentine’s chocolate sugar rush and get your coding fingers ready: Battlesnake 2017 is fast approaching!

For the fourth annual occurrence, we are inviting all developers and students to come and to join us for the programming competition of the year – pitting artificial intelligence (AI) snakes against one another to duke it out for eternal glory and over $5,000 in prizes.

Battlesnake is open to students and developers of all skill levels. We’ve already had over 450 people sign up to participate but still have room for more.

Tell me more!

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve held a few optional tutorial sessions to assist with snake building; there will be an additional tutorial session the morning of the event if you need assistance with your snake. There will be a Battlesnake booth at the upcoming Discover Tectoria event on Feb 24th where we will be showcasing the game and answering questions.

If all of this sounds amazing to you, this year’s event will be held at the Victoria Conference Centre from 9:00AM to 8:00PM on Saturday, March 4th.

Visit the official Battlesnake site to read more (including information on our amazing sponsors) and sign up to compete.

Dyspatch respectfully acknowledges the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ People, whose unceded territories we live and work on. We would also like to express our gratitude to all of the Coast Salish people as we continue to work and live as guests on their lands.

We recognize that acts of colonization created many inequities for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. As a company, we acknowledge that we have a responsibility to work towards reconciliation and to remain open to suggestions and consultations, especially with Indigenous communities.
