A Year in Review for Dyspatch: 2020

By Veronica Best | January 13, 2021 | Categories: Product
⏱ 5 minute read

I’m sure we can all agree, it’s been an interesting year! And although the COVID pandemic created challenges for us, we are extremely proud and grateful for what we have accomplished at Dyspatch in the last year. From the unexpected challenges of COVID-19 on our business to launching one of our most exciting and innovative features yet, we’re excited to share how Dyspatch has stepped up its game and delivered on competitive features that will help businesses drive better engagement with their audiences through email. Let’s dive in!

AMP for Email

We can’t save the best for last with this one, it’s just too exciting and we were thrilled to launch AMP support in Dyspatch with one of our marquee customers being the first to use AMP emails built in Dyspatch in the wild. Ready for it? We now support AMP for Email! And we also released our new AMP starter theme with pre-coded AMP blocks.

AMP for email is still quite a new technology, and not all marketers have heard of the possibilities it powers yet. Basically, AMP for email is a different way of coding emails that enables marketers to build interactive, dynamic content right in email (just like in a web browser) to better engage their audience. It makes it possible for users to complete actions such as add to cart, or even make a purchase right from within the email. AMP for Email has been proven to drive unprecedented engagement and sales increases from email marketing. Check out some examples here!

So, what does this mean for marketers and email coders? It is now easier than ever to create interactive, dynamic content within email templates without needing to write complex code. Simply use our drag and drop interface to drop AMP blocks into the template. Ready to try it? Learn more about AMP for Email in Dyspatch here.

Image Library

Our second most exciting addition to Dyspatch is the Image Library. The Image Library has a similar feel to Google Drive and allows users to create folders and store images and gifs within Dyspatch. This adds a lot of convenience, especially for businesses using multiple ESPs, because all email assets can be stored in one central location. It also reduces reliance on other tools, such as ESPs, S3, and Google Drive for image storage, resulting in easier and faster access to assets when they are needed.

Annotated Comments

Have you ever effectively collaborated with other teams on creating an email? Or have you relied on tools like JIRA for the progress status, a Google Doc for sharing the email copy, and a design tool like Figma or Photoshop for the email design? Enter Dyspatch. We have had approval workflows for a while, however, we recently added annotated comments. From personal experience I can say this feature is a game changer. As an approver, just check out an email template draft (fully designed and written) and simply click anywhere on the email to make a comment or reply to a comment. The user who built the email is notified in real time and can quickly incorporate your feedback, getting the email to market in half the time. Like I said, game changer!

Braze Integration

Braze is a leading multi-channel engagement platform and we’re excited to be partnering with them, as well as offering a direct integration from Dyspatch to Braze for our customers. The new integration allows you to seamlessly sync email templates built in Dyspatch to Braze, including localized versions. Our intuitive drag and drop email builder empowers your email team to quickly build beautiful and responsive email templates in one centralized hub, making email template production efficient, collaborative, and scalable. Build interactive, on-brand emails with the Dyspatch email builder, then send them with Braze in real-time for segmentation, targeting, and Braze’s renowned analytics reporting.

What’s more, variable fields in Braze are also available in Dyspatch and will seamlessly sync to the Braze platform as part of your template. This integration also powers a faster localizations workflow. By localizing your templates using our time saving localizations workflow and bulk exporting them to Braze, scaling your internationalizations strategy has never been easier.

Pinned Blocks

Let’s talk about pinned blocks. Pinned blocks are blocks that are automatically included in every template created within a Dyspatch Theme. This is super helpful in ensuring consistency across templates: pinning  a header or footer to templates will ensure that they always have the right legal footer, and the same design-approved header. It also makes creating a new templates faster, since you don’t have to find the correct footer or add it to the template: it’s already included in the visual editor!

Since users require permission privileges to add or remove pinned blocks,, they provide peace of mind that the important content or branding in these blocks are not modified by mistake.

This is a great feature for businesses managing multiple templates as it makes the QA process smoother and faster. Never miss an unsubscribe link or accidentally send an email with the non-darkmode friendly logo again.

Rollback to a safe revision

Have you ever wondered why platforms like Pardot don’t have a rollback option for email templates? I do all the time. It’s quite frustrating if an error manages to slip through our review process before we send, since we have to cancel the send and create a new template with the fix. Dyspatch now offers a faster, safer option: simply rollback the template with the error to the last safe revision — it’s only two clicks!

In Dyspatch, if you make changes that you’re not happy with, you can just revert back to a previously published version without worrying that you’ll have to redo any work.

The View Toggle in the Visual Editor

This may seem like a simple feature, but it saves so much time during the template creation process! In Dyspatch, users can now toggle between the most important views to preview how the template looks in various devices or conditions, including desktop to mobile, plain text to html, and now to AMP!

The toggle adds convenience by removing a QA step. Of course, you can and should still run your Litmus tests, but you can now have a level of confidence that your email will render correctly before you even get to that step.

We’re excited about these big new changes, and hope you’ll check them out in Dyspatch (there were quite a few more changes that we didn’t have the space to mention here!)!

We’re happy to wrap up 2020 with these exciting new features and we’re looking forward to what 2021 will bring. Stay tuned for more features around AMP, integrations, and useful new features that will help you execute email campaigns faster and engage your audience better.

Also, we’re always listening to your feedback! A lot of the improvements we made in 2020 to our email builder were prioritized after our conversations with you, our users. Our product team would love to hear from you if you have any questions, suggestions, or want to hear the insider scoop on our 2021 roadmap. Don’t hesitate to reach out!

Happy New Year from all of us at Dyspatch!
