Building the Mall of the Future

“Sendwithus really improves collaboration between our design and editorial teams. Setting up and editing templates is simple and intuitive – even for non-technical users – and snippets are perfect for creating reusable bits of code. Sendwithus has been a great tool for our team and we look forward to using it more as we scale out our email marketing strategy.” – Madhavi Jagdish, Product Designer, Wanelo

Want Need Love Wanelo

The Setup: Wanelo is a digital mall bringing together 350K stores and 12M products into one social platform. With a small team and massive growth, they needed a way to ensure that email campaigns didn’t slip through the cracks or devour brain-hours across multiple teams. Since 90% of Wanelo’s usage occurs on mobile, timing and responsiveness are both really important factors in creating a successful campaign. By using Sendwithus, their current team was able to manage that process effectively.

The Turn: As a company, Wanelo has a big vision of building out their platform from a social network to a full-fledged marketplace, and in late 2014, they launched “Buy on Wanelo” to set the company down this path. Transactional email templates were hard-coded into the product, but as the product expanded, it became too resource intensive to involve both devs and the growing creative team to create, adapt, and implement each new email accordingly.

Similarly, with the new marketplace came a whole host of new communications requirements. Not only was Wanelo required to start sending payment confirmations, but they also needed to expand their communication to a new audience: the sellers of “Buy on Wanelo”. Using the snippet functionality in Sendwithus meant that updates to the user schema could be handled seamlessly by the marketing team.

The Resolution: “Buy on Wanelo” is off to a great start with over 200 launch partners like Urban Outfitters, BCBG Max Azria, and ModCloth. To continue this momentum, Wanelo also unveiled an integration with Shopify merchants that allows over 100K of their stores to sell directly on Wanelo alongside the aforementioned brands. Wanelo isn’t stopping there, so we’re really excited to watch them continue to take off.

“With an easy API integration, friendly A/B testing setup, flexible template interface, and intuitive analytics visualization, Sendwithus has helped us send millions of emails to enhance our users’ experiences, all while saving us time and providing valuable insights to our operations.” – Alex Chen, Software Engineer, Wanelo
